Dr Brianna Chesser is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Justice at RMIT University.  Brianna is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and a Solicitor of the High Court of Australia. She is also a registered Psychologist and Clinical Psychology Registrar. Brianna has undertaken extensive undergraduate and postgraduate study in several areas including Law, Psychology, Music and Higher Education.
Brianna’s scholarly interests lie within two broad areas; the criminal justice system; and in therapeutic jurisprudence which acknowledges the law’s potential to enhance wellbeing. Her recent published work has focused on emerging areas within the criminal law, such as the crime of ‘stealthing’. Her upcoming work on the laws of evidence and criminal defences focuses on witness scrutiny, and the availability of criminal defences for groups such as those defences based on culture or background.
