Alexandra Wake is a program manager for Journalism at RMIT University and is the elected President of the Journalism Education and Research Association of Australia. Her projects as a researcher and teacher run parallel to an extensive professional career as a journalist in Australia, the Asia Pacific and the Middle East.
Dr Wake is on the educational advisory group for Mindframe, which supports safe media reporting, portrayal and communication about suicide, mental ill-health and alcohol and other drugs. Mindframe is funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Health, under the National Suicide Prevention Program. She is also a board member for the Dart Centre for Journalism and Trauma in the Asia Pacific, an organisation dedicated to informed, innovative and ethical news reporting on violence, conflict and tragedy.
