Join us for this upcoming Research Impact for Societal Engagement (RISE) Reading Group discussion “Don’t start me on the Ivory Tower theory!” Emotional dissonance and impact work. This discussion centres on the affective experience of working toward research impact. Our starting point will be “Fear and loathing in the academy? The role of emotion in response to an impact agenda in the UK and Australia” by Chubb, Watermeyer, and Wakeling (2017) (https://doi.org/10.1080/07294360.2017.1288709). Government and funder expectations generate significant confusion among academics. Changing government requirements exacerbate the pressures and uncertainties that researchers already face within their institutions. How are you feeling?
